Maps of Chile

Don't spend time looking for a good map of Chile : there is none...
(I copied this map from the Europcar document "Mapas Rutero" - It is a good general map)

This map is sufficient, but it is recommended to collect information locally, to find out about the conditions of the dirt roads. Don't hesitate to ask for several advices, and not only in the Tourism Offices, who often have a tendancy to be exceedingly cautious.

In each National Park, you will be given a Park Map, where the hiking trails are shown. These maps are quite accurate, are are usually sufficient, as the main trails are well marked. But don't expect hiking trails to be as well maintained as they are in Europe or North America...

Blue figures are the places where we spent one or several nights. Roads we travelled on are also in blue color.
